Our Client, a leading international EPC Contracting Company, is seeking an experienced Material Engineer to be assigned to pipeline construction & commissioning project located in the UAE.

Essential duties:
  • Follow material manufacturing and inspection activities through all its phases, from preliminary engineering to Procurement follow-up.
  • Support bids and projects in the definition of the most effective and competitive solutions for materials selection and manufacturing.
  • Execute the activities within his area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE Requirements.
  • Issue all the documents related to the definition and production of components (pipe, fittings, etc.) needed for the construction of pipelines, sea lines, etc.
  • Support procurement and commercial office with technical analysis during project bid phase. Review Tecnimont Specifications for pipes and fittings manufacturing.
  • Support procurement department to establish bidder lists, evaluating and pre-qualifying vendors, bid assessments, audits Review Supplier documentation for compliance with client/international specifications and rules.
  • Issue technical bid evaluation for line pipes and fittings supply.
  • Assist MPQT, review/comment subcontractor documentation, review the inspection and test plan.
  • Discuss and interface with the method project engineers and/or TM during both proposal preparation and projects to identify particular project requirements.
  • Liaise with welding , NDT and anticorrosion colleagues to identify critical requirements for product manufacturing that may affect Company construction activities and to promote innovative solutions.
  • Perform inspection site survey.
  • Report for validation to his technical group leader.
  • Coordinate material failure analysis.
  • Maintain contact with line pipes manufacturers to be updated on new technologies

  • Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science/Technology, Chemistry Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a suitable engineering subject.
  • Knowledge of main international Discipline standards, codes and regulations for offshore and on-shore oil & gas structures (Pipelines, subsea structures, piping, etc.).
  • Capability to define technical requirements for discipline equipment and materials workshop testing according to corporate standards, procedures, methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of the most common processes of fabrication of the oil and gas components, like line pipes, flanges, valves, coatings, etc.
  • Knowledge of the main metallic materials and alloys and non-metallic materials used in the oil and gas industry, including advantages and disadvantages, mechanical properties, costs and other relevant features (e.g. market availability, shop and field fabrication limitations, joining methods, etc.).
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering for the design of mechanical items and with the selection of materials.
  • Understanding of basics of mechanical technology.
  • Knowledge of the metallurgical properties of the main metallic materials and impact on their physical, mechanical and corrosion resistance properties.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of non-destructive testing, techniques and equipment of common use in Tecnimont projects.
  • Knowledge of main welding processes (GMAW, SAW, FCAW, GTAW, Plasma, others) typically required by projects and related techniques.
