For an Aluminium Smelter Plant we are currently seeking a Shutdown Planning Engineer to be assigned to an Aluminium Production plant located in the United Arab Emirates.

Job description
Essential duties:
  • To develop the maintenance shutdown plan related to the assigned area within the refinery (i.e. digestion, refinery and calcination), and monitor and control its implementation in order to ensure optimal availability of plant and equipment within planned schedule and budget. 
  • Supports the Shutdown Planning team in the development and implementation of functional policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of the function so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.
  • Carries out day-to-day operations of the Shutdown Planning section to ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established policies, processes and procedures.
  • Conduct field verification in order to assure clear understand of the Requested Order (RO) before conversion to Work Order
  • Consults with various internal representatives from the assigned refinery area by attending key meetings and holding discussions in order to identify and prioritise shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Conducts regular analyses on required maintenance, and reviews maintenance logs and data generated through SAP in order to ensure sufficient information is available to develop detailed maintenance plans and schedules in a comprehensive manner.
  • Develops shutdown maintenance plans and schedules including identifying required resources, shutdown duration, critical activities, man-hours, equipment and resources, etc. in order to ensure smooth running of shutdown activities and optimise plant availability. 
  • Reviews progress against shutdown maintenance plans regularly, attend progress meetings and prepare reports accordingly in order to keep key stakeholders informed, and ensure there are no deviations from the established plans.
  • Develops corrective action plans, and oversees implementation thereof in order to minimise the impact of delays or changes in scope of work. 
  • Ensures that actual data on shutdown maintenance activities is captured and logged in order to formulate lessons learned, and continuously identify improvements for future shutdown activities.
  • Participation on Asset Criticality analysis and keep updated the maintenance strategy defined in the SAP system.
  • Work diligent on develop Asset Activities for repetitive maintenance intervention and promote standardization within the organization.

  • Diploma in Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • 8+ years' experience as maintenance technician (mechanical, electrical or instrumentation) with maintenance planner experience (SAP or Oracle) in chemical process plant or equivalent.
  • 4+ years Alumina refinery experience
  • In depth process equipment maintenance execution experience (mechanical, electrical and or instrumentation)
  • In depth knowledge of maintenance planning system (SAP or Oracle)
  • In deep knowledge of materials management system (SAP or Oracle)
  • Very good knowledge of budget and cost control
  • Knowledge/experience of lean manufacturing (system and tools) applied to maintenance management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skill (negotiate and achieve agreement).
  • Good troubleshooting ability and problem solving skills
